Tiffany Loftin to Speak at NAACP New Jersey Convention Oct. 11-12

CHERRY HILL – Tiffany Dena Loftin, director of the NAACP Youth and College Division, headlines speakers at the NAACP New Jersey State Conference 2019 Convention, which will be held Oct. 11-12 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill.

The theme of the convention is “The Future is Now, Present Day Civil Rights and Our Role In It.” Convention organizers said that the theme represents the New Jersey State Conference NAACP’s intergenerational approach to civil rights in today’s multifaceted movement.

Loftin will speak at the Gala Awards Banquet on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m., where the New Jersey ACT-SO winners and participants will perform.

In her position with the NAACP, Loftin serves more than 700 youth councils, high school chapters, and college chapters actively involved in the fight for civil rights. Loftin brings to the NAACP an extensive experience in and passion for membership-based organizing at the local, state, and national level.

She had served as the senior program specialist in Community Advocacy and Partnership Engagement, Center for Social Justice at the National Education Association before joining the NAACP.

The convention will open Oct. 11 with a press conference at noon followed by the opening plenary session at 3 p.m., followed by the Gala Awards Banquet. On Oct. 12, there will be workshops covering economic sustainability, education, health, public safety and criminal justice, along with voting rights and political representation.

At 10 a.m., there will be a brunch featuring women in New Jersey politics. A legislative reception/mixer will be held in the evening. Bryan Parr and the Blind Date Band will perform at the brunch and mixer.
