Dr. Oscar Holmes IV Named Associate Dean at Rutgers-Camden Business School

CAMDEN – Dr. Oscar Holmes IV has accepted a new position as associate dean for undergraduate programs at the Rutgers University-Camden School of Business.
Dr. Monica Adya, the former chair of the management department at Marquette University’s business school, became the first female dean of the Rutgers-Camden School of Business in March and made the appointment.
“The Rutgers School of Business–Camden is widely respected for its commitment to quality education and transformative student experiences,” Adya said of her arrival at Rutgers-Camden. “I am honored to be given this opportunity to lead this school and build on its strong foundation of teaching, scholarship, and civic engagement. I am excited to be working with Rutgers–Camden’s distinguished faculty, staff, alumni, and students, and with the business and civic leaders of South Jersey and the Delaware Valley.”
Holmes now becomes the highest-ranking African American in Rutgers-Camden’s business school. He also the first Black to earn tenure and promotion in the school. The award-winning business professor and diversity champion had served director of access and outreach for business education at Rutgers-Camden and is an associate professor of management.
“I’m honored that our new dean, Dr. Monica Adya, entrusted me with this role and I look forward to working with her to execute her vision and goals,” Holmes told Front Runner New Jersey. “In this role, I am responsible for undergraduate recruiting, admissions, accreditation standards, curriculum, advising, and student issues, and representing the School of Business internally and externally at the undergraduate level.”

Rutgers-Camden also recently named Dr. Snehamay Banerjee as the new associate dean for Graduate Programs.Â
Holmes is also the director of the Rutgers University Student Executive program, which introduces high-achieving underrepresented high school students in the South Jersey area to a wide range of business disciplines, topics, and careers.
He is the founder and chief executive officer of WHConsulting Firm, LLC and creator and host of “Diversity Matters With Oscar Holmes IV” podcast which premiered in 2020.
Diversity Matters explores all things diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) related with Holmes leading a discussion with his guests on topics around DEI, latest research and its implications so listeners will be more knowledgeable about the topics and be able to apply the insights to their lives.
Holmes has already won numerous awards for his work as a professor and in the community. Those awards highlight his research, such as the New Jersey Policy Research Organization Foundation Bright Idea Award for Academy of Management Annals Publication he won last year. He also earned the Mid-Atlantic Association of College of Business Administration Innovation in Teaching Award in 2018, along with the Rutgers Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2016.
