Today marks a new step for Front Runner New Jersey and AC JosepH Media with our new Front Runner La Prensa column.

This column is created not only to highlight leadership and culture in the Hispanic and Latin American community in South Jersey, but also for the purpose of spinning it off into its own blog six to 12 months down the road depending on the response.

As Front Runner New Jersey approaches its second birthday highlighting African American leadership and culture, I learned there was a clear need of highlighting the Latin American community as well. Talking with people like Wilfredo “Wil” Rojas, I determined the time was now to take this step and bring a positive spotlights to Latinos and Latinas in the region.

This is also my call for those in the Latin American community to not only be readers but active participants, through making suggestions for stories and even contributing yourself to the column and the eventual blog.

There are similarities between the African American and Latin American experiences, but there are distinct differences as well. My goal is to make sure the Front Runner New Jersey platform is doing justice to the wonderful and incredible stories that need to be told in both communities.

We won’t always get things right, but that will always come from trying hard to get it right and we expect you to keep us on our toes.

I’m excited about our initial stories and looking forward to them leading to filling in the picture of the Latin American community in South Jersey. So here we go. Thank you reading and feel free to join in the conversation.

Remember, these are YOUR stories. Front Runner New Jersey/La Prensa is only the messenger. As long as there are positive and encouraging stories to be told, we will continue to deliver that message.
