Micah ‘Dew’ Tennant Park Officially Dedicated in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY — More than 100 residents showed up Wednesday as Mayor Marty Small dedicated the Maryland Avenue Playground to the memory of Micah “Dew” Tennant, the 10-year-old boy who died tragically from a gunshot wound during a high school playoff football game in Pleasantville last November.
Wednesday would have been Tennant’s 11th birthday. Small said on social media that the lot, which is now Micah “Dew” Tennant Park, will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will include new picnic tables and grills, along with an historical marker placed in front of his grandmother’s daycare center on Virginia Avenue.
Phase 2, which will be completed during Memorial Day weekend next year, will include the city’s first “splash pad” and two resurfaced basketball courts with lighting.
Alvin Wyatt was arrested and awaits trial in Tennant’s shooting death. Wyatt is accused of opening fire in the stands of a crowded football stadium during the NJSIAA Central Group 2 playoff game between Camden and Pleasantville after allegedly spotting local rival Ibn Abdullah on Nov. 15, 2019.
Wyatt’s bullets did not only hit Abdullah and Tennant and another bystander. Michael Mack, 27, and Tyrell Dorn, 28, were also arrested for allegedly helping Wyatt flee the scene before they were all caught by police shortly afterwards in Atlantic City.
Tennant died Nov. 20, 2019 at Cooper University Medical Center in Camden from the wounds he received.
He attended Uptown Complex Elementary School where he enjoyed hanging out with his Mom and siblings and playing football for the Atlantic City Dolphins.
