ATLANTIC CITY — Tony Award-winning actress and Grammy nominee Melba Moore, television host Bert Lopez and nonprofit leader Anthony Brower leads a list of some four dozen honorees who will be recognized at the sixth annual Tri State Black History Month Awards in February.

Legendary Atlantic City international performer Angela Burton, of Creative Multi Media told Front Runner New Jersey this week the event will be held February 27, tentative set for the All Wars Memorial Building, 1510 Adriatic Ave., in Atlantic City.

It will be held from 7:30-10:30 p.m. and tickets will cost $35. For each ticket, $5 will be given to Rain Boots for Children. Burton’s latest album Passion and Pain was recently released and is now on sale.

The awards honor community leaders and those in the entertainment industry for their outstanding contributions in their fields. Burton said God led her to create the awards six years ago, which have been held in her hometown.

The iconic Moore, who has performed in Atlantic City numerous times, won a best actress Tony for her role in “Purlie” in 1970 and is a multiple Grammy Award nominee. He is also the founder and past president of the Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic City and the first Latino to serve as president of the Atlantic City Board of Education.

Brower founded Friends In Action Inc. in 2014 and currently serves as president. Its mission is to improve communities by offering members within them the ability to band together for positive public works. Brower and his nonprofit work together for the public good in order to make the world a better place one family at a time. In June, he led his organization to team with New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy, LogisticCare and others to deliver emergency food supplies to Atlantic City residents in need.
