WENONAH — The National Coalition of 100 Black Women Southern New Jersey is off and running for 2021 with four programs to kick off the year.

The upcoming events include:

  • On Wednesday (Jan. 6), NCBW SNJ will host a Zoom College Prep Writing Workshop I from 7-8:30 p.m. The event targets high school seniors. The workshop will help teach students how to effectively search for scholarships, use scholarship apps and tools and how to respond to scholarship question prompts.

Those interested in participating can register at http://bit.ly/3g0sxj. Guest speakers include Danielle Davis, of the NCBW Southern NJ’s Education Committee, and Patrice Carter, admissions counselor with Passaic County College.

  • The organization will sponsor Childhood Obesity Prevention Virtual Open House on Saturday, Jan. 16. The first five children to register will receive a prize pack. The event will include virtual games, physical activity challenges, recipe demos and a chance to win prizes.

Celebrity Chef Delilah Winder and Kid Chef Zina Smith will join in the event.

  • In conjunction with the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, NCBW SNJ will host “Hope and Opportunity” in Housing and Employment virtual webinar for preserving and building community wealth on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The webinar will address distressed housing assistance, tenant-landlord rights, homeownership opportunities and employment and training opportunities. New Jersey State Sen. Troy Singleton will be a special guest.

  • On Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. NCBW SNJ invites you to join the audio presentation “Would you like to Know How Laws are Made?” with the New Jersey State Legislature.
