Divine 9 of Cumberland/Salem Spend Easter Giving to Community

BRIDGETON — The Divine 9 of Cumberland and Salem County treated about 200 children with gifts and prizes at the community-wide Easter Egg Hunt at Bridgeton City Park on April 3.
Damita White-Morris, with Quarter Mile School and member of Delta Sigma Theta, said the organization gave away more than 3,000 filled eggs and 50 prizes at the event.
“To God be the glory for such a successful event,” White-Morris told Front Runner New Jersey. “Thank you to the lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta and Zeta Phi Beta sororities, the fine men of Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma fraternities along with the 2nd Masonic District for volunteering their time to make this event successful.”
The Divine 9 also donated 90 Easter gift bags to the residents of Southgate Health Care Center in Carneys Point on April 7, White-Morris said.
The “Divine Nine” represents the original group of Black fraternities and sororities, some founded as early as 1906, that comprises of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc.
