Hispanic Heritage Month: Groups to Honor Local Hispanic Leaders

GALLOWAY — The Hispanic Association of Atlantic County (HAAC) and Stockton University’s Stockton Unidos will honor community advocates during its annual Nuestro Pueblo Awards celebration on Saturday, Oct. 9.

The event, which will be held at Stockton University’s Atlantic City campus, 3711 Atlantic Avenue, at 6 p.m. is part of the organizations’ Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs Sept. 15-Oct. 15 annually to honor the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans rooted in all Latin American countries. See Front Runner New Jersey/LaPrensa’s story on Hispanic Heritage Month on FRNJ Extra HERE.

Highlighting the great culture and leadership in South Jersey’s Hispanic community.

“The mission of the Nuestro Pueblo Awards celebration is to promote community involvement and advancement of our Hispanic cultural heritage by recognizing individuals and/or organizations that are making a difference in “Nuestro Pueblo” (our community). Net proceeds will benefit the UNIDOS and HAAC scholarship funds,” said a statement on HAAC’s website.

The Hispanic Association of Atlantic County was founded by a group of Latinos determined to advocate for the Hispanic community, foster networking and promote the diverse Hispanic cultural heritage.

Stockton Unidos, based out of Stockton University, is an organization made up of students and supporters dedicated to expanding cultural and historical awareness of the contributions the Latino and Hispanic community has provided to humanity.
