Atlantic City Offers Thanksgiving Meals

ATLANTIC CITY — Mayor Marty Small, Sr. announced the City of Atlantic City’s plans to provide hot or boxed holiday meals to Atlantic City residents in need on Nov. 22 and 24.
Hot Meals for Seniors and Individuals Experiencing Homelessness
In partnership with the Beron Jewish Community Center, the Atlantic City Department of Health and Human Services will be providing 100 hot meals to Atlantic City seniors in need.

The COAC will be coordinating the delivery of the hot meals with property managers at the City’s various senior buildings. Additionally, the City will be serving hot meals in the courtyard at City Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 24, to residents who may be experiencing homelessness.
Boxed Meals for Low-to Moderate Income Households
In partnership with the Salvation Army and the Bangladesh Association of South Jersey (BASJ), the COAC will be providing 500 boxed meals to low-to moderate-income households in Atlantic City. Boxes will include:
One 10-12lb Turkey;
One cranberry sauce;
One can of turkey gravy;
One 5lb bag of potatoes;
Two cans of string beans;
One loaf of dinner rolls; and
One apple pie
In order to qualify for one of the free boxed meals, residents will need to register by bringing proof of income (tax return from 2020, recent pay stubs, unemployment letter, or monthly benefit letter) and a valid ID, verifying their Atlantic City residence, to one of the following locations:
Salvation Army — accepting 300 applications: To secure a boxed meal, bring your proof of income and valid ID to 22 S. Texas Avenue from 9am-12pm or 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Bangladesh Association — accepting 200 applications: To secure a boxed meal, bring your proof of income and valid ID to 3116 Atlantic Avenue (AC Gift & Convenience Store) from 3-8:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Upon verification of income and residency, residents will be provided a ticket to bring to City Hall on Monday, Nov. 22, to claim their boxed meal.
Meal Distribution
Monday, Nov. 22
The distribution of the boxed holiday meals for low-to moderate income households will take place on Monday, November 22, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
*Only residents who pre-registered are eligible for a boxed holiday meal.*
Residents will need to bring their ticket and a valid ID to pick up their boxed meal.

Wednesday, Nov. 24
Hot meals will be delivered to the various Atlantic City senior buildings beginning at 1 p.m. Additionally, meals will be served to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Courtyard at City Hall beginning at 1 p.m., until supplies last.

The City of Atlantic City’s holiday meal distribution is supported through funding awarded to the City through the Community Development Block Grant CARES (CDBG-CV) Grant Program. Additional details on the City’s holiday meal distribution is available at www.acnj.gov.
