Gateway CAP Preps for 35th Annual Gala at Caesars Atlantic City

BRIDGETON — The Gateway Community Action Partnership will be hosting its 35th annual Gala at Caesars Atlantic City at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 26.

The gala is one of the major fundraisers for Gateway CAP, part of a national effort that grew out of the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty by empowering the poor as part of the War on Poverty.

Gateway is a nonprofit organization covers eight counties in New Jersey and parts of Philadelphia and offers a wide variety of community services.

Along with the gala, Gateway CAP will give out community awards during the event as well.

Albert Kelly, longtime mayor of Bridgeton, is the founder and CEO of Gateway. Edward Bethea is the executive vice president and chief operations officer. Ruby Love, of Deptford, serves as chair of Gateway’s Board of Director and Dr. Terrence Hardee, of Vineland, is the board’s vice char.
