John William Templeton co-founded Black Business Month in 2004 in the spirit of Black History Month, which was established by Carter G. Woodson in 1926. The month is a way of highlighting the talent that exists if the Black business sector.

“Moreover, it was also his way of demonstrating to society that Blacks had the wherewithal to produce quality products and deliver excellent services in the marketplace,” a statement from the African American Chamber said.

Holmes main research interests include examining how leaders can maximize productivity and well-being by fostering more inclusive environments that mitigate interpersonal and organizational threats.

Specifically, his research investigates how people respond to social identity threats and construct positive identities as well as factors that lead to biased decision-making. His research has been published in several academic journals such as the Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Africa Journal of Management, Journal of Management, Spirituality, and Religion, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: An International Journal.
