ATLANTIC CITY — New Jersey U.S. Sen. Cory Booker has endorsed Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr., for re-election in the city’s Democratic primary June 8.
“Being the mayor of an urban city is challenging even in the best of times,” Sen. Booker said. “Mayor Marty Small took office at a time of urgent crisis in Atlantic City, then admirably led his city through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“He has cut taxes and spending, expanded city services, and by restoring confidence in city government, is attracting the investments that will improve the lives and create economic opportunity for Atlantic City residents. That is why I proudly and enthusiastically support Mayor Small and the Team Small ticket. Together they will keep Atlantic City moving forward,” Booker said.
Small, who served on the city council for 16 years and won a landslide election in November to fill an unexpired term as mayor, is running for a full four-year term.
“Thank you to Sen. Booker for supporting me, my running mates for city council, and the great city of Atlantic City as we continue our recovery and rebuilding from this very challenging year,” Mayor Small said.
“We are working very hard and making tremendous progress in Atlantic City, and Sen. Booker’s support will help us continue on our forward path to improve the lives of the people of Atlantic City. This is a Great Day in the city of Atlantic City and I am humbled and honored to have Sen. Booker’s support,” Small said.
Small has also been endorsed by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
