Black History Month: Vineland African American CDC Host 2 Award Events on Feb. 26

VINELAND — The Vineland African American Community Development Corporation will honor individuals in two events Saturday in recognition of Black History Month.

Both events will take place at the Academy of Healthcare Ballroom at 17 West Landis Avenue in Vineland. The Dr. MLK Breakfast will take place at 9 a.m. and the Leading Men and Leading Women Gala will happen at 4 p.m.

The event is being done in connection with the Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission, Vineland High School AA Classes, the Vineland Public Library, the Greater Vineland NAACP, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, the Bridgeton Area Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women and the Vineland High School AA Club.

VAACDC will host its Dr. King Breakfast, at the Academy Healthcare Ballroom at 9 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Dr. J.A. McGruder, a Bridgeton native and counselor.

Millville High School football Coach Dennis Thomas, will be the keynote speaker at The Leading Men and Leading Women’s Gala at 4 p.m. This fall, he led the Thunderbolts to their second NJSIAA state title.
