ATLANTIC CITY — Some of the biggest names in the boxing world – from fighters Lennox Lewis and Cesar Chavez to famed trainer Kevin Rooney, Sr. and boxing promoter Kathy Duva — will be honored at the sixth annual Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame, organizers announced.

The annual awards and induction weekend will take place Oct. 7-9 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City, organized by founder Ray McCline. McCline became a Hall of Famer himself this year being inducted into two renown boxing association’s halls.

“The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame family is super excited to celebrate the newest members of the Hall of Fame,” McCline said in a statement. “We can’t wait to have boxing enthusiasts both far and near relieve some of their greatest memories of Atlantic City’s legendary fights and fighters. And there’s no better place to celebrate this year’s class than right here at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City a global entertainment brand.”

The 2022 class members include: Lennox Lewis, Julio César Chávez, James Toney, Frank Fletcher Dave Tiberi, Chuck Mussachio, Kathy Collins-Globuschutz, Kathy Duva, Pat Lynch, Kevin Rooney Sr., Lynne Carter, Randy Neumann, Dr. Domenic Coletta, Tom Casino, and posthumously: James Broad, Eddie Aliano, and Harold Lederman.

“I was excited to fight at the then-new Trump Taj Mahal on the undercard of Thomas Hearns and Michael Olajide,” Toney said. “I was so pumped I went out and stopped my opponent Jose Luis Estevan in the 5th round who was the local favorite.

“The crowd was great, and I remember walking through the crowd and giving them high fives on the way out. It was my first great experience fighting in a historic city of legendary fights.”
