Melanin Market Spreads Its Wings With Cultural Fusion Festival on April 13
BY BRANDON EDWARDS | South Jersey Information Equity Project
WILLINGBORO — South Jersey’s Melanin Market, which has helped businesses of color find an audience of loyal customers for several years, will spread its wings on Saturday, April 13 when it holds its Cultural Fusion Festival at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
The festival will be held at the convention center, 1101 Arch Street, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lamar Robinson said the Cultural Fusion Festival started in 2017 and has been hosting their expos all over New Jersey with massive success.
While the main focus is the business expo that features more than 150 Black-owned vendors from all over the country, what makes this festival one to remember are the events that take place throughout the day; speeches from Dr. Umar Johnson, performances from step teams, fashion shows, live music, and panel discussions that entertain and empower all that are in attendance. This year it will be even bigger.
This year, WURD Radio, a Black-owned radio station based out of Philadelphia, will be live on the air as the festival kicks off its first youth business pitch competition, Loc hairstyle competition and Double Dutch competition.
Those interested in becoming a vendor or sponsor at this event should call 877-749-VEND. Tickets are available now at $15 online, and the event is free admission for kids 13 and under, with adults.
