N’Namldee Nelson Sworn In as President of Camden City Advisory Board of Education

CAMDEN – N’Namldee Nelson, the executive director of the nonprofit group Rising Leaders, was worn in president of the Camden City Advisory Board of Education on Friday, Jan. 3 while Jeanette Alvarez took the oath as vice president.

Nelson and Alvarez, along with other board members, took their oath as part as the annual reorganization of the board at Camden High School.

Other board members sworn in were Cameron Hudson, Wanda Garcia and Maria Perez.

Nelson, who has been part of the board since 2018, is the co-founder and executive director of Rising Leaders. A graduate of Camden Catholic High School, he earned his bachelor’s from Ursinus College and master’s from Rutgers University-Camden.

Alvarez, a 2013 graduate of Rowan University, has served as an aide to Camden County Commissioner Melinda Kane and Al Dyer along with being an constituent advocate for U.S. Sen, Cory Booker. She has served as board member with the St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society of Camden.

The Camden advisory board was sworn in by Camden City Council President Angel Fuentes.

“Congratulations. Congratulations to N’namldee Nelson for being the President and Jeanette Alvarez for being the Vice President,” Fuentes said on Facebook. “Thank you for putting our children first – and making sure they get a quality education. Thank you to Maria D Perez for allowing me to administer the oath of office, congratulations.”
