Winters, the first African American to sit as board chair at First Harvest Credit Union, has been fighting for civil rights for decades in Gloucester County in various roles. She has helped elevate the chapter to one of the most active in the state with signature programs like Heels in the Battlefield women’s conference and its star-studded Freedom Fund banquet held in the fall.

Along with the NAACP and First Harvest, Winters sits on the boards at Planned Parenthood Northern, Central, and Southern NJ, Samaritan Health DEI, the Rowan College Foundation, Habitat for Humanity in Gloucester County and the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce.

Winters provides servant leadership to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race and ethnic-based discrimination. In her journey for equality and justice for all, Winters has been in the forefront for social and criminal justice.

Winters recognizes that times have changed dramatically and her strategies and tactics of working with policy makers, elected officials, business owners, and labor in a mutually respectful manner, is focused on cooperation and collaboration on a unity of purpose work in yielding results. As an advocate on the cutting edge of legislation, Winters served on the 2018 New Jersey Governor’s Transition team and was an Electoral College voter for the 2016 presidential election.
