HAAC Names New Board of Directors, Bert Lopez Remains as President

ATLANTIC CITY – Atlantic City Electric executive Bert Lopez has been selected to continue lead the Hispanic Association of Atlantic County, the organization said in its newsletter this week.

Lopez, a longtime community leader and executive producer of the local public affairs television show Latino Motion, is also a member of the New Jersey Puerto Rican Commission.

Felix Perez will serve as first vice president, Luis Chevere as second vice president, Rebeca Jomarron, as secretary, Madelynn Tejeda, treasurer, and Paul Avila, information officer. Other executive board members include Jorge Azcona, Geoff Dorsey, Ivenny Lopez, Lynette Morales, Nathaly Ozoria and Yafreisy Salazar.

The Hispanic Association of Atlantic County is one of the leading volunteer nonprofits in South Jersey that advocates for Latinos in the area. The organization gives out scholarships annually and holds the only youth leadership summit geared toward Latino students in Atlantic County.

HAAC regularly recognizes community leaders with its Nuestro Pueblo Awards, typically held during the summer or fall. It will be held on July 10 this year at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. It also honors the diversity within the Latino culture with its annual Atlantic City Latino Fest held in September. This year’s event will be Sept. 6.
