Nohemi Soria-Perez, Jon Diego Highlight Hispanic Leadership Assn. 2025 Honorees

CHERRY HILL – Camden City Council member Nohemi G. Soria-Perez and prominent Atlantic City attorney Jon Diego will receive awards from the Hispanic Leadership Association of New Jersey at its annual October 18 gala, the organization announced this week.

The HLANJ Awards and Scholarship Gala will be held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel’s Riverside Ballroom, 2349 Marlton Pike West in Cherry Hill. Retired Col. Jose “Rafi” Rodriguez will be the keynote speaker with a performance by Orouesta Del Barrio.

Soria-Perez, who made history in 2021 as the first Mexican American to win a seat on Camden’s City Council is also the district chief of staff for State Sen. Nilsa Cruz Perez and Assembly members Bill Moen and William Spearman.

She will receive the Achievement Award for Public Service Leadership. She was a member of FRNJ’s Class of 2021 30 Under 35 Top Latino Leaders of South Jersey.

Diego, a former HLANJ board member, will receive the organization’s Founder’s Award. A native of Pleasantville, Diego formerly served as the chief prosecutor for the City of Atlantic City. He has long represented employees in discrimination and retaliation cases, along with domestic violence and other matters.

*Angel Lopez, Achievement Award for Business Leadership

*Dr. Evelyn Nunez, Achievement Award for Educational Leadership

*Brunlida “Cookie” Sanchez, RN, Achievement Award for Healthcare Leadership

*Jorge “Bad Boy” Melendez, La Mega Radio, Achievement Award for Media and Journalism Leadership                                                                                                                                                           

*Melissa Morales, Camden, founder, Together We Win Global, Achievement Award for Non-Profit Leadership

*Carlos Sanchez, Achievement Award for Arts and Entertainment Leadership
