KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. — As thousands of visitors passed through the popular Longwood Gardens on Christmas Eve on Dec. 24, they were greet to a tree decorated by young members of Mighty Writers El Futuro Kennett in recognition of the Hispanic community.
The decorated tree was one of dozens featured during Longwood Garden’s annual Christmas celebration.
Mighty Writers El Futuro Kennett, located in Chester County, Pa., is a space where kids of all ages attend bilingual after-school writing workshops, get individual help with homework, learn social-emotional skills like mindfulness, empathy and conflict resolution, and create artistic projects that pay tribute to their Latino heritage.

Their families are supported by Mighty Writers, too, through free activities that help them connect with other parents and build skills for the job market.
The Mighty Writers program is a nationwide initiative created to promote literacy as a tool for social change and aims to expand youth access to opportunity.
Longwood Gardens is a world-renowned, 1,100-acre botanical garden in Kennett Square, featuring stunning horticultural displays, intricate fountains, grand conservatories, woodlands, and meadows with over 10,000 plant species, celebrated for its year-round beauty, spectacular seasonal exhibits, and innovation in horticulture.
It offers visitors diverse experiences, from choreographed fountain shows and treetop walks to indoor gardens and educational workshops, all rooted in a rich history that began with Quaker settlers and was developed by late industrialist Pierre S. du Pont.
