This is the 25th anniversary for the MLK Celebration under the theme “It’s a Family Reunion,” where past honorees are invited to return.

A Cumberland County native, Jagdeo is an author, illustrator, creative media designer, advocate, and motivational speaker dedicated to empowering children and families in the disability community.

At just 17 years old, she founded From We Can’t to We Can after recognizing a profound lack of authentic representation for kids with disabilities in books, media, and entertainment. Her mission is rooted in lifelong friendship — inspired by her best friend who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy — and fueled by a desire to ensure every child sees themselves as capable, confident, and celebrated.

“Under Trinity’s leadership, From We Can’t to We Can creates superhero books featuring real children with disabilities, hosts inclusive community events, and operates programs like the Resource Recycler to provide medical and adaptive equipment to families who’ve been denied coverage through insurance,” organizers said.

“What began as a high school passion project has grown into a thriving 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uplifts families across the U.S. and beyond. Trinity’s work has garnered national media attention, with features in Forbes, Woman’s World Magazine, The Today Show, Upworthy, Verizon Media (In The Know), Beautiful News, and more — amplifying her message of inclusion, equity, and representation for the disability community.”

Along with being a past MLK awardee, Jagdeo has been honored with recognitions such as the F4Y Humanitarian Award, Under 40 Business Woman of the Year, 30 Under 30 Trendsetter, and the Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award for her tireless commitment to inclusive storytelling and community impact. Her notable partnerships include Colgate, Twitter and Meta.
