- FRNJ: What made you become a business owner?
Eric Cooper: I saw a gap in how our communities come together. I wanted to build something that wasn’t just a service, but a mission. Being a owner gives me the platform to create professional experiences that fund a much larger purpose: advocating for families and children who are often left on the sidelines.
2. FRNJ: Why did you select your current field?
Eric Cooper: Foam is a universal language of joy and a powerful sensory tool. By specializing in sensory-friendly, non-toxic, and inclusive parties, I found a way to combine my passion for entertainment with my commitment to helping kids with autism and all abilities. We “wash away” social barriers and let kids just be kids.
3. FRNJ: What do you enjoy the most about being a business owner?
Eric Cooper: The direct impact. It’s more than just foam; it’s the smiles on faces in underserved communities and the relief in the eyes of parents who realized their child finally found a place where they belong. I love standing on the front lines of this cause—one foam experience at a time.
4. FRNJ: How important is it for you to have positive Black role models in business?
Eric Cooper: It is mission critical. As a Black founder and CEO, I’m not just building a business; I’m representing a possibility. It’s important for youth in our schools to see a leader who looks like them, running a professional playbook while founding a non-profit like the SHARK-E’s Autism Foundation to give back.
5. FRNJ: Anything else would you like to add?
Eric Cooper: We are on a collective mission to launch the SHARK-E’s Foam Sensory Van Project—a first-of-its-kind “festival-on-wheels” for New Jersey.
We need specific partners to make this history: Dealerships: We are seeking a partner to donate a high-roof cargo van to serve as the project’s foundation. Specialized Support: We are looking for Vinyl Wrappers, Electronics Shops, and Metal Fabricators to help with the custom build-out. Sponsorships: Businesses and leaders can purchase ad spots on the van to fund advocacy and free “pop-up” activations for underserved communities.
