Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell to Keynote Atlantic City NAACP Freedom Fund Gala

ATLANTIC CITY – New Jersey’s Lt. Gov. Dr. Dale Caldwell will be the keynote speaker that the Atlantic City Branch NAACP Freedom Fund Gala at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel at 6 p.m. on April 25.

Atlantic City’s Freedom Fund banquet is one of the best-attended local NAACP events in New Jersey, which typically have 500 guests. The branch gives out awards to local community members at the event. Kaleem Shabazz serves as president and Rosie Segura as vice president and event chair.

Caldwell served as the president of Centenary University before becoming lieutenant governor. He is the former executive director of the Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He served as president of the Educational Services Commission (ESCNJ), deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, the founding executive director of the Newark Alliance and senior manager at Deloitte Consulting.

He volunteered on the New Brunswick school board for 26 years, serving as president for six. Caldwell is a pastor of the Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield. There, he has built a congregation based on the values of inclusivity, community, and acceptance.

Service to others was instilled in Caldwell from a young age. His mother was a teacher and his father, Rev. Gilbert Caldwell, was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement who knew and marched arm-in-arm with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Caldwell is a graduate of Princeton University, earned his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his doctorate at Seton Hall University.
