5 Questions

1. FRNJ: What made you become a business owner?

Trinette Ricks & Yvette Redd: Reign Financial Services began with two sisters and one shared belief: financial guidance should feel personal, compassionate, and accessible. We saw firsthand how often people, especially women, small business owners, and those in ministry, felt underserved or overwhelmed when making financial decisions.

What started as conversations within our own circles became a calling. We built Reign to create a space where people can gain clarity, feel supported, and make confident decisions about protecting their families, income, and future.

2. FRNJ: Why did you select your current field?

Trinette Ricks & Yvette Redd: We chose financial services because it sits at the center of what matters most: family, stability, and long-term security. It is also an area where many people feel the least informed.

Before launching Reign, we each spent decades in the industry. Yvette brings more than 30 years of experience in insurance claims across life, disability, and ancillary lines of coverage. Trinette spent over 18 years working with financial marketing organizations, supporting advisors and distribution.

As certified Prudential BluePrints to Black Wealth financial professionals, we leverage structured, proven frameworks to help business owners and families map their goals, understand their options, and make informed financial decisions. These experiences, combined with our hands-on industry knowledge, give us a clear view of the real-life impact that proper coverage — or gaps in coverage — can have on a family’s financial stability or business’s operations. That perspective continues to shape how we serve today.

3. FRNJ: What do you enjoy the most about being a business owner?

Trinette Ricks & Yvette Redd: The most fulfilling part is the impact. We have the opportunity to walk alongside individuals, families, and small businesses during important life moments and help bring clarity to decisions that once felt uncertain.

We also value the ability to build something purpose-driven, where faith, service, and excellence guide how we show up. Creating a business that reflects our values while helping others feel more secure and prepared is deeply rewarding.

4. FRNJ: How important is it for you to have positive Black role models in business?

Trinette Ricks & Yvette Redd: It is deeply important. Representation shapes what feels possible.

We come from a legacy of “firsts,” individuals in our family who broke barriers and set new standards. That history instilled in us the responsibility to lead with excellence while creating pathways for others.

As Black women in financial services, we are intentional about expanding access to conversations, education, and resources that have not always been readily available in our communities.

5. FRNJ: Anything else you would like to add?

Trinette Ricks & Yvette Redd: At Reign, we believe protection is an act of stewardship. It is about being prepared, caring for what matters most, and making thoughtful decisions for today and the future.

Our approach starts with real life. We help clients think through key areas such as family protection, income stability, health coverage, business continuity, and future income planning, so important details are not overlooked.
