ROBBINSVILLE â€“ The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association has established a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee to provide guidance, leadership, and programming in support of NJSIAAâ€™s commitment to an environment in which everyone is treated fairly and respectfully, has equal access to opportunities and resources, and can participate fully in interscholastic athletics.
â€œDiversity and inclusion are integral to the ongoing evolution of the NJSIAA,â€ said Colleen Maguire, the associationâ€™s executive director. â€œIn a rapidly changing society, NJSIAA is committed to remaining on the forefront of issues that include â€“ and go beyond â€“ race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, and gender identity. Weâ€™ve a assembled a stellar group of leaders who will play a pivotal role in shaping our diversity efforts moving forward.â€
Members of the committee include:

*Liz Aranjo, District Supervisor â€“ Athletics, Newark Public School System
*Mark Phillips, AD, Camden HS
*Tarig Holman, Coach, JFK Iselin Memorial HS and the New Jersey Minority Coaches Association.
The group will hold a kickoff meeting later this month and will develop both short and long-term goals.
About the NJSIAA: Established in 1918, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of 436 accredited public and non-public high schools. A member of the National Federation of State High School Associations, the NJSIAA conducts tournaments and crowns champions in 33 sports. Championship competition for girls is sponsored in basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, volleyball, and wrestling. Boysâ€™ championships are determined in baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, volleyball, and wrestling
