NCBW SNJ Host ‘Birth Equity & Maternal Mortality’ Discussion on Zoom

ATLANTIC CITY — An informative and revealing Zoom roundtable discussion on bias and Black maternal mortality is being sponsored by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Southern New Jersey Chapter in partnership with Planned Parenthood from 7-8:30 p.m. on June 29.
The discussion “Birth Equity & Maternal Mortality” will feature presentations by Arisa Sawyer, owner of Jade’s Nativity Birth and Postpartum Doula; Shania J. Seibles, board certified maternal fetal medicine specialist; and Dr. Karen Nichols, board certified by the Board of Internal Medicine.
Topics discussed at the seminar will be:
- Expanding the conversation of implicit bias and Black maternal mortality
- Implicit bias in healthcare: Moving from awareness to positive change
- The impact of systemic racism on birth equity
- Action steps and birth equity in practice
