Atlantic City NAACP to Honor Tammy Murphy, Matthew J. Doherty on April 30

ATLANTIC CITY — First Lady Tammy Murphy and Matthew Doherty, the outgoing Casino Reinvestment Development Authority‘s (CRDA) executive director, will be honored by the Atlantic City Branch NAACP at its annual Freedom Fund Breakfast at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on April 30.
Murphy will be honored for her work in the health field. Her husband, Gov. Phil Murphy, started his second term leading New Jersey this year.
Doherty announced in January that he was leaving CRDA after four years in office. Over that time, Atlantic City has seen the revitalization of the former Revel casino, which is now Ocean Casino Resort and the opening of the Hard Rock, along with the construction of a new ShopRite supermarket.
Other honorees include:
- Anthony Brower, nonprofit leader
- William Hawkes, radio station owner
- Indra Lyn Owens, youth leader
- Kristina Johnson Carr, special recognition
