Singer and songwriter Mary Cross has not slowed down in 2022 and only the sky is the limit.
The founder and CEO of 2NspireU LLC is spreading passion and joy through her strong, sultry voice. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Cross and the 2NspireU band (Dane Clark, Daille Kettrell, David Williams, Joe Fisher Kismet Henderson and Martina Grant) used the time to grow as artists and a group.
They continued to write and perfect their craft with virtual rehearsals. Thanks to the release of her late 2019 single, “In Love, There’s a Risk,” even in lockdown her latest music and profound sound were still reaching hungry fans.
The video was posted on YouTube on December 2019 and has over 5,500 views. 2NSpireU was still securing performances even through the uncertainty. Virtual programs continued to see about Cross.
In October 2020 teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Donald Robinson and co-wrote the song she performed virtually for the Democratic National Convention her single “You Can Change It (Right Now).”
Cross has been able to use her gift to raise money partnered with Isa Bell the founder of Educ’Aid Africa. Her voice backing the cause of building safe places for children to gather and eat along with music schools. As venues opened back up, Mary was not short for bookings.
“I am so grateful for those on this journey with me,” Cross said of her growing fan base. She does not take her support lightly and the gratitude she feels can be felt by anyone who talks to her.
“I want to continue to share my voice with others. I want to inspire and encourage people with my music,” she added.
Cross said she is extremely pleased with where her music career is now. The recipient of 2021 Creative Media Tri-state Black History Award exudes gratefulness and grace. She is all about the glam citing legends like Phyllis Hyman, Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight and more as heroes.
Even after all her success and accolades, Mary still has one main thing on her mind. Inspiring people.
“I truly love appreciate every listener and fan,” Cross said. “Love people. They matter.”
You can find Cross pouring out her heart, leaving it all on the stage once a month during her residency at Wilsons’ new jazz music venue in Hi-Nella, N.J. She will perform there on March 19.
