By Clyde Hughes | AC JosepH Media
CAPE MAY — The Cape May County NAACP recently announced expungement program for those with criminal records or looking to find out additional information at Sandman Towers in the Wildwood Housing Authority, 3700 New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, May 6.
The NAACP is hosting the event with the Superior Court of New Jersey of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Volunteers will assist those who would like to apply for an expungement.
“New Jersey’s expungement laws recently changed and many people who were previously advised they were not eligible for an expungement, may be eligible now or on a future date,” Quanette McNeal, of the Cape May County NAACP, told Front Runner New Jersey.
“New Jersey has a new online expungement filing system which is easy to use and completely free, giving members of the community the ability to change their lives by removing their criminal record from public view.”
Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins will be welcomed. For additional information, contact atlexpunge.mbx@njcourts.gov or cmcnaacp@gmail.com.
