HAAC Scholarship Mixer Feb. 25 To Raise Funds, Bring People Together

PLEASANTVILLE — Networking and empowering the future will be the messages of the day as the Hispanic Association of Atlantic County hosts its Scholarship Fundraiser Mixer at the Latino Restaurant and Bar, 18 S. Main Street in Pleasantville on Saturday, Feb. 25.
HAAC, one the leading community nonprofits in the area for Latin Americans, annually gives out scholarships to Hispanic students locally in promote higher education efforts.
“Join us for lunch and networking,” a statement on the event’s Facebook announcement said. “Proceeds support the 2023 Scholarship fund which awards four Latino/Hispanic recipients. We look forward to seeing you there.”
Bert Lopez, a longtime executive with Atlantic City Electric and the producer of the television show “Latino Motion,” is the president of HAAC. Jessica Grullon, an administrator at Stockton University in Galloway, is the vice president.

Under the pillars of education, culture and advocacy, HAAC was founded in 2018 by a small group of Latinos determined to advocate for the Hispanic community, foster networking opportunities, and promote the diverse Hispanic cultural heritage.
HAAC has acknowledged community leaders who demonstrate similar values by recognizing them in the Nuestro Pueblo Awards and has supported the community by being a resource of information and unity. It hosts one of the largest celebrations of the Hispanic culture every fall with the Atlantic City Latino Fest at Bader Field.
HAAC is determined to explore opportunities with our allies that strengthen the community and uplift the Hispanic culture.
Yelp.com lists the Latino Restaurant and Bar as one of the top 10 Latino-themed establishments in the Atlantic City area with one reviewer saying “service was great and [we had an] overall amazing experience.”
