ATLANTIC CITY — Frank Logan, mayor of Logan Township and chair of the South Jersey Black Political Caucus, and national political organizer Stephenine Dixon informed FRNJ of a contingent of more than 30 Democratic Party elected officials and influencers who have thrown their support for Newark Mayor Ras Baraka to be New Jersey’s next governor on Friday.
The announcement comes ahead of important South Jersey county conventions in Atlantic and Burlington County.
Dixon, who has worked on political campaigns across the country, was recently named Baraka’s South Jersey director for his gubernatorial campaign.
“Ras Baraka is the leader New Jersey needs right now,” Minor said. “As an executive, he has already shown that he knows how to govern. He has managed the largest city in our state through crisis after crisis — focusing on public safety, economic growth, and equity. His experience and leadership make him the best choice to lead New Jersey forward.”

Supporters from Atlantic County include Pleasantville Mayor Judy Ward, former Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford and his wife, former school board president Nynell Langford, and four members of the city council of Atlantic City — council President Aaron “Sporty” Randolph, Vice President Kaleem Shabazz, George “Animal” Crouch, and Latoya Dunston, former AC city councilman Tim Mancuso, AC school board member Torres Mayfield, and former school board member Kenia Nunez.
Other prominent Democrats who decided to join Baraka’s campaign included Pleasantville council president Carla Thomas, and councilmember Tony Davenport; Pleasantville school board member Charmaine Jones-Akins, and former school board members Jerome Page, Melanie Griffin, Julio Sanchez and Elyse Sanchez; former Pleasantville Mayor Jesse Tweedle; former Northfield councilwoman Susan Korngut, and Egg Harbor Township school board member Juanita Hyman.
In Burlington County, Baraka has endorsement of prominent Willingboro civil rights leader Reva Foster, the chair of the New Jersey Black Issues Convention.
Along with Minor, others who have announced their support for Baraka include:
*Mark Benjamin, Former Winslow Township Board of Education
*Angela Cooper, Pine Hill Board of Education
*Deputy Mayor Bernardine Jackson, Logan Township Council
*Felix James, Pine Hill Board of Education
*Mayor LaDaena Londo, Penns Grove, Salem County
*Shleema Lawry, Logan Township Council
*Donna Pearson, former Cumberland Board of Commissioners
*Karen Roots, former council president, Salem City Council
