RIVERTON — The Palmyra, Riverton, Cinnaminson Celebration Committee, a dedicated volunteer organization known for fostering community unity through meaningful initiatives, proudly announced its upcoming 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
Set under the leadership of President Michael Hunt, this event has grown exponentially in popularity since its inception in 2020, drawing an unprecedented number of participants each year.
Founders and committee leaders Kim Robinson and Wanda Swanson, as well as Hunt, eagerly anticipate welcoming the community to Riverton Memorial Park for this grand celebration on Wednesday [June] from 4-8 p.m.
This year, the event continues to collaborate with the boroughs of Palmyra, Riverton, and Cinnaminson, promising an event filled with rich cultural heritage and community spirit. Host Town Mayor Jim Quinn anticipates a Juneteenth Proclamation in recognition of the observance, on the night before at the Riverton council meeting.
This year’s Juneteenth celebration promises a fusion of tradition and innovation, catering to all ages. Attendees will embark on a cultural journey through live music, dance, spoken word, and art presentations.
Returning this year are Vice President Michelle “Songbird” Ray and her ensemble, Ain’t Nothing But a Party Band. Guests will experience a reenactment of Back in Time. Returning performers Amped To Dance is expected to put on a great show.
A significant component of the celebration will be the Land and Ancestral Labor Acknowledgement, a poignant reminder of the contributions and sacrifices made by People of Color, specifically African Americans, in the advancement and development of our region.
Speakers elected officials, including NJ Sen. Troy Singleton, who sponsored the event this year along with mayors from Riverton, Cinnaminson and Riverton.
Kaurice Hunt, a dedicated executive team member, has curated a selection of free activities ensuring enjoyment for all. Highlights for younger guests include pony rides by Black-owned ranch Horses for Humans, as well as a bounce house, face painting, and crafts.

In line with their mission, the event will feature partnerships with organizations united for change, like the Diversity and Equal Opportunity Network (DEON) Incorporated led by Shelja Touri who joined the PRC Juneteenth Celebration Committee Executive Board recently.
DEON will be offering free books on diversity in collaboration with BookSmiles, children’s Juneteenth tattoos, and stickers. Since 2022, the Southern Burlington County NAACP Branch led by President Tyrus Ballard — an anticipated speaker — have continued their partnership. The branch’s table will be focused on member recruitment and community engagement.
Participants also include the Black Cinnaminson and Cinnaminson Diversity and Alumni Student Council, founded by Sebastian G. along with Palmyra High School students. The youth will contribute through volunteering and creative expression.
A diverse array of 60 vendors and several food trucks signed up to be onsite, alongside educational displays curated by PRC Juneteenth Committee and DEON that delve into the historical essence of Juneteenth and its relevance today.
PRC Juneteenth Celebration Committee invites everyone to mark their calendars, bring a lawn chair/ picnic blanket, and immerse themselves in the festivities. This event is not only a celebration but a call to action to support the various vendors, enjoy diverse culinary offerings, and unite for a cause that champions social justice, equity, and empowerment.
