VOORHEES – The Voorhees Cultural & Diversity Committee International Day will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Eastern Regional High School, filled with music, dance food and information.

Cultural and Diversity Committee secretary Lisa Witherspoon told Taja Johnson of South Jersey Local Media in July that there was a buzz around the event.

“Our goals for the meeting were to assign leadership, lay the groundwork and energize everyone about the vision for International Day,” said Cultural and Diversity Committee secretary Lisa Witherspoon said in South Jersey Local Media then. “We had lively discussions, meaningful suggestions and a lot of excitement about what this year’s event can be.”

“We want this day to truly reflect the beautiful diversity of our Voorhees community,” Witherspoon explained. “From faiths such as Hindu, Muslim, Cambodian, Catholic, Christian and Jewish, to diverse languages, dance and culinary traditions, we are celebrating it all.”

Gwen Devera is the chair of the Cultural & Diversity Committee and International Day. For more information, contact Assunta “Suzie” Barone abarone@voorheesnj.com or mail to the Cultural & Diversity Committee, 2400 Voorhees Town Center, Voorhees, NJ 08043.
