Vineland Sets April 23 Parade for Isiah Pacheco, Chiefs Add Award for Him

VINELAND — The recognitions have continued to flow for Vineland’s NFL star Isiah Pacheco, with the City of Vineland announcing a parade in his honor while his Kansas City Chiefs teammates voted the former Rutgers star as its top rookie.
Pacheco as a seventh-round draft pick beat the odds to not only make the Chiefs roster but win a spot as the NFL champions’ starting running back in the back of league MVP Patrick Mahomes. In the Chiefs 38-35 Super Bowl victory earlier this month, Pacheco racked up the sixth most rushing yards by a rookie in the game in NFL history.

This week, Vineland Mayor Anthony Fanucci announced its “Parade For Pop” is scheduled for Sunday, April 23 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Final details regarding the parade route and rally location are still being finalized, and will be announced shortly, the city said.
“So many residents of Cumberland County are eager to demonstrate their admiration for Isiah’s accomplishments,” Fanucci said in a city statement.
“This community rally will be an opportunity for all of us to offer our congratulations to our hometown hero upon achieving his dreams of becoming a World Champion, and for being such a wonderful ambassador for the City of Vineland.”

The news of the parade comes after the Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that Pacheco has been given the franchise’s Mack Lee Hill Rookie of the Year award as the Super Bowl champion’s top first-year player. The award is voted on by his teammates.
During the regular season, Pacheco rushed for 830 yards on 170 carries and five touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry during the regular season. He registered his first 100-yard game in the NFL at the Los Angeles Chargers, where he gained 107 yards on 15 carries on Nov. 20.
