Atlantic City NAACP to Honor Mayor Marty Small, Superintendent La’Quetta Small

ATLANTIC CITY — Mayor Marty Small Sr., and his wife, Schools Superintendent La’Quetta Small, lead the list of honorees at the Atlantic City NAACP Branch annual Freedom Fund Gala Dinner on Saturday April 29, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at 7 p.m.
NAACP national vice chair Karen Boykin Towns will be the keynote speaker for the event. Boykin Towns was one of the leading figures during the NAACP national convention held in Atlantic City this summer and introduced Vice President Kamala Harris when she addressed the convention.
Small, who is enjoying his first full term as Atlantic City mayor after winning a series of elections to finish out the previous term of the former mayor after serving as president of City Council, will be recognized for leadership with the city.
La’Quetta Small, who has served more than two years as superintendent of Atlantic City Schools after rising through the ranks including a stint as principal of Atlantic City High School, will be honored in the education category.

The Atlantic City branch is led by President Kaleem Shabazz, who also serves on the city council of Atlantic City; vice president Rosie Segura, second vice president Rev. Stafford Miller; treasurer Patricia Winston Collins; second treasurer Linda Steele; and Secretary Anjil Shabazz.
Executive committee members include: Michael Johnson, Rosetta Johnson, Juda Dorrington, Robert Lee, Chief Henry White, Anthony Brower, Charles Goodman, Loukeeler Bell, Dr. Jon Regis, Mandy Day-Chapman, Christian Ragland; and Emeritus Barbara Gilliam.
