“It was my pleasure this morning to accept the 2024 Legislator of the Year Award from the New Jersey Tourism Industry Association at their annual Advocacy Day in Trenton. Tourism plays a vital role in the economy of Legislative District One and the State of New Jersey as a whole,” McClellan said on Facebook.

“I will continue to fight for and uplift the great work of our tourism professionals and captains of industry.”

McClellan is the first African American Republican in the legislature since 2002 and the first African American elected to the General Assembly to represent the southernmost New Jersey counties. He took his seat in Trenton in 2020 and currently serves as the Minority Whip — and represents Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties.
