VINELAND – Will Cunningham, who is running for Congress as a Democrat in the New Jersey’s Second District, announced he has captured the endorsement of The Collective PAC.
The Collective PAC is a national organization with the mission of increasing African-American political representation in the democratic process.
“I could not be more proud to receive the endorsement of the foremost organization working to fix the challenge of African-American representation in the elected seats of power and bring true political equity to this nation,” Cunningham said in a statement.
“In the United States today, 90 percent of elected officials are white. In a nation whose essence is built on a promise of democracy and the principle that all are created equal, this statistic is unacceptable. It is time that our elected leaders reflect the struggle of the communities they seek to represent,” Cunningham said.
A Vineland and South Jersey native, Cunningham said he never forgotten where I came from and wants to help the families and children of New Jersey’s Second Congressional District.
“In a time where our nation is exercising its civic duty to fight for justice and equality, organizations like the Collective PAC showcase that equal representation and opportunity within our political system are real possibilities,” Cunningham said. “With their endorsement, the Collective PAC recognizes that my campaign is a true fight for equality and transformative change in New Jersey’s Second District.”
The Collective PAC has helped 55 candidates win office at the local, state and federal level thus far since 2016.
Will Cunningham is a South Jersey native running to be the Democratic nominee in the July 7, 2020 primary for the right to challenge Republican Jeff Van Drew in November. Cunningham is a former investigations on the House Oversight Committee.
