ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — After nearly two decades of ministry and 17 years of dedicated service within the organization, Rev. Antonio Gandy has been elected president of the Fellowship of Churches of Atlantic City and Vicinity, marking a new chapter for one of South Jersey’s longstanding faith-based organizations.
For Gandy, the election was both humbling and meaningful.
“Being elected president of the Fellowship of Churches South Jersey was a proud moment,” he told Front Runner New Jersey.com. “I served on the board for 17 years in different roles, and it meant a lot to me that Fellowship members trusted me enough to lead this organization.”

A pastor, community advocate and family man, Gandy brings a history of service that extends beyond the pulpit.
He founded a church on Nov. 2, 2008, and pastored it for five years before merging with Trinity Church AC in Atlantic City in 2014 after his father-in-law, who led the congregation, relocated to Texas. Today, he and his wife are preparing to celebrate 20 years of marriage in 2027 and are raising three children.
Throughout his 18 years in ministry, Gandy has been involved in a wide range of outreach efforts, both locally and abroad.
Those initiatives have included prayer vigils, clothing drives, nursing home ministry, support for the Navajo Nation in St. Michael, Arizona, and assistance to a church community in Kenya.
His ministry’s vision also continues to grow.
He noted that his church owns 11 acres in Mays Landing, where plans are underway to relocate the congregation and develop affordable housing for seniors, an effort that reflects his interest in addressing community needs beyond traditional ministry.
As president of the Fellowship, Gandy says his primary focus will be fostering unity among churches and strengthening relationships across racial, cultural and denominational lines.
“My biggest goal is to bring the Christian community closer together,” he said. “Politics and race are being used as a tool to attempt to divide the body of Christ. My heart’s desire is to see the Fellowship become more culturally diverse.”
He believes the Fellowship can serve as a visible example of cooperation and shared purpose, particularly at a time when many communities face social and economic challenges.
“For Christ’s mission, it is important that we remain single-minded and united in the cross,” he said. “I believe that the Fellowship is a vehicle to live that out for the world to see.”
Part of that vision includes expanding public engagement. Gandy plans to open Fellowship meetings to the broader community on a quarterly basis, allowing residents to learn more about the organization’s work while offering an opportunity to share concerns and collaborate on solutions.
“We are very active in our community, partner with other non-religious nonprofits, and my goal is to maintain those partnerships,” he said.
Joining Gandy on the Fellowship’s leadership team are Marion McLaurin, pastor of Mt. Zion, as vice president; Derric Wayne Comer, pastor of Destined for Greatness, as treasurer; William Moore Jr., pastor of New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, as secretary; Elder Traci Holland, associate of Victory First Presbyterian Deliverance Church, as corresponding secretary; and Batu Mukinayi, pastor of Christ Worship Center Worldwide, as chaplain.
Looking ahead, Gandy said there are additional initiatives he hopes to pursue during his tenure, though he plans to share more details after officially assuming office.
The community is invited to attend the Fellowship’s installation service, scheduled for Jan. 17, 2027, at 4 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road in Pleasantville. The Fellowship Mass Choir will perform, and organizers say participation in the choir is open to all interested singers.
