MILLVILLE — An impressive crowd turned up at the second summer Millville Family Day at Captain Buck Waterfront Park along the Maurice River Friday evening before dusk.
Organizer, local businessman Wade Loatman, said he was pleased to see the turnout and growth of the family day, which is being held on the fourth Friday of every month in an effort to uplift and give something positive back to the Millville community.
Deejay Barry Cephas, who will receive an award from the Millville Chamber of Commerce on July 27, was joined by DJ Jerry J in spinning “Old School” hits throughout the evening while he gave out free hot dogs to those attending. Children attending were treated to free ice cream treats. Various vendors lined up along both sides of the festivities with products and information about local services.
Millville City Commissioner Bruce Cooper was one of several community members attending the evening event. Others included local attorney Yolanda Garcia-Balicki, running New Jersey District 2 Senate, along with running mate Chris Wilson; educator Priscilla Ocasio-Jimenez, running for Cumberland County commissioner; nonprofit executive Ivelise “Eva” Perez, running for Millville City commissioner.
Longtime Cumberland County political advocate Richard Todd Edwards attended with Life Worth Living founder and executive director John Fuqua.
