ATLANTIC CITY — Across New Jersey, Hispanic Heritage Month has begun — a time to honor the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and enduring contributions of Latino communities that continue to shape the Garden State.
From Atlantic City to Camden, Vineland to Trenton, celebrations this month highlight the strength, creativity, and leadership of New Jersey’s Hispanic residents who have helped build the state’s social, cultural, and economic fabric.
Municipalities from Bridgeton to Tom’s River will host programs while organizations like the Hispanic Association of Atlantic County and the Puerto Rican Action Committee of Sputhern New Jersey, PRAC, will host major events celebrating the month.
Observed nationally from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the independence anniversaries of several Latin American nations and celebrates the diverse roots of more than 2 million New Jerseyans of Hispanic or Latino descent.
In South Jersey, the observance carries a special resonance, reflecting generations of families who have made the region home — from Puerto Rican farmworkers who helped cultivate Vineland’s agricultural legacy to Dominican, Mexican, and Colombian entrepreneurs revitalizing local business corridors today.

The New Jersey Hispanic Leadership Association of New Jersey, based in Cherry Hill, recently hosted its 13th Annual Leadership Achievement Awards & Scholarships Gala, honoring figures such as humanitarian Roberto Clemente Jr. and local professionals whose work uplifts Hispanic communities statewide.
The gala underscored the theme of unity and empowerment — values that resonate deeply during Hispanic Heritage Month.
