Juneteenth 2023: Cape May’s Harriet Tubman Museum Hosts Dinner, Tours

CAPE MAYThe Harriet Tubman Museum recently announced its plans for the Juneteenth weekend for Sunday, June 18 with several events, including a dinner and tours of the museum honoring the iconic civil rights pioneer and hero.

The museum will host its second annual Benefit Celebration Dinner at the Chalfonte Hotel, 301 Howard Street, to commemorate two years of museum, from 5-8 p.m. Music, beverages, and a special Chalfonte buffet will be shared.

Sunday will begin with breakfast at the historic Macedonia Baptist Church next door to the museum from 8:30-10:30 a.m. A program on the Harriet Tubman Museum porch with speakers and supporter recognition from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

A special Juneteenth service will be held at the Macedonia Baptist Church starting at 11 a.m.

From 1-4 p.m., there will be free self-guided tours at the Harriet Tubman Museum of New Jersey for Freedom Day.  

Due to size and capacity limits, organizers ask participants to secure separate free tickets for the self-guided tour, harriettubmanmuseum.eventbrite.com.

“Hear speakers and leaders in our community as we share reflections on the meaning and history of Juneteenth,” organizers said. “We’re recognizing our supporters, founders, staff and donors who made the museum possible.
