EDITOR’S NOTE: The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey held its inaugural Juneteenth Business Expo at Montclair State University on June 15. This historic event attracted business owners from around the state, including South Jersey’s Angie’s At Your Service. Owner Angela Morrison told Front Runner New Jersey about her experience.

On June 15, 2023, Angie’s At Your Service Virtual Assistance had the pleasure of attending the AACCNJ Juneteenth Business Expo.

As a virtual assistance provider, we recognize the importance of business networking and was eager to seize the opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, learn new strategies, and showcase our services. Everything was amazing!

We enjoyed the valuable connections made and the vibrant atmosphere that made this an unforgettable experience.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a lively ambiance filled with soulful music and a breakfast bar. Once inside, the Expo provided a dynamic platform for making new connections and expanding our professional network.

We had conversations with like-minded individuals who shared their journeys and success stories which were so inspiring. We learned about innovative businesses and connected even on personal levels with similar lifestyles and hobbies. Our conversations went from banking to beaches.

These personal interactions were refreshing and deepened our understanding of various industries and how we could better serve them.

The event also offered a wealth of knowledge through insightful presentations, workshops and panel discussions. We were unable to attend the presentations but we highly recommend them as they offered information on new strategies, techniques, and tools shared by experts.

One of the highlights was the matchmaking sessions. These sessions were a golden nugget to business owners who have been trying to get a seat at the table with large companies AT&T, PSE&G, Ferreira Construction, Assurance Wireless, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, FiServ, JCP&L/First Energy Corp., HNTB, and NJMEP.

This enabled business owners the opportunity to pitch their business directly to procurement managers. Angie’s At Your Service afforded the opportunity to meet with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. What a promising opportunity.

Beyond the business aspect, there were captivating displays of artwork and fashion, delicious soul food for lunch, and again, great music. These vibrant elements added a sense of

celebration, fostering an environment where meaningful connections were made in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. One of the paintings for sale, a sunflower with an inspirational message, was so beautiful that Angela had to buy it.

As we reflect on our participation in the AACCNJ Business Expo, we are reminded of the overall significance of such events in fostering growth and success. We were able to see firsthand the power of collaboration and the impact of shared experiences. We anticipate future opportunities to connect, learn, and contribute to the thriving business community.
