Atlantic City NAACP To Honor Stephanie Marshall, Irvin & Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez

ATLANTIC CITY — City councilwoman Stephanie Marshall and human rights advocates Cristian and Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez lead the list of honorees for the upcoming Atlantic City NAACP Freedom Fund Gala in April, the branch announced this month.
The annual Freedom Fund Gala will be held at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Atlantic City at 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 26. The gala, one of the largest NAACP events in South Jersey yearly, recognizes some of the most prominent members of the local civil rights community.
Rev. Dr. DeForest “Buster” Soaries, the first Black to serve as New Jersey Secretary of State, will be the keynote speaker. Other honorees include Jonathon Henderson, Business; Jarrod Barnes, Health; Tamara McNeil-Winbush, Community Service, and Tracey Triniwell, Youth Impact.
Marshall is completing her first team on city council in Atlantic City and is currently running for re-election on Mayor Marty Small Sr.’s ticket. A bookkeeper at the Atlantic City Board of Education, Marshall is chair of the Atlantic City Housing Authority.
The Moreno-Rodriguez brothers will receive the Sheila Oliver Civil Rights and Social Justice Award. Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez last year became the first Latino selected to lead the Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University in Galloway.
Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez is of executive director of El Pueblo Unido of Atlantic City, which empowers, organizes and education the local Latino and immigrant community.
