SEWELL – Penns Grove Mayor La’Daena Londo and New Jersey Assemblywoman Heather Simmons will be recognized by the Gloucester County NAACP at its annual Heels on the Battlefield Women’s Conference on May 21.

Londo, Simmons and Dr. Michele Turner-Woods will be the inaugural recipients of the Walking Bolding, Leading Bravely Awards for their contributions to public service, community advancement and women’s leadership, the NAACP said.

The annual Heels on the Battlefield conference will take place from 6-10 p.m. at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, 66 Million Mosasaur Way in Sewell.

“Their exemplary contributions to public service, community advancement, and women’s leadership make them outstanding honorees for this year’s program,” the NAACP said.

Heels on the Battlefield is one of the premier women’s conferences in South Jersey put on yearly by the Gloucester County NAACP. Loretta Winters serves as president.

The NAACP said that tickets and sponsorship are on sale now at gloucestercountynaacp.org for more information.
