Witherspoon, Others To Be Honored by Mainland-Pleasantville NAACP at Freedom Fund Luncheon

PLEASANTVILLE – Hamilton Township Committeewoman and Atlantic County Democratic Party vice chair Dr. Thelma Witherspoon will be honored by the Mainland-Pleasantville NAACP Freedom Fund Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 2 at noon.

Witherspoon became the first Black woman to serve on the Hamilton Township Committee when she won an elected seat on the body and was sworn in in 2023. She formerly served as second vice president of the Atlantic City NAACP as well as a member of the Historical Preservation Commission for Hamilton Township.

She is the pastor of the Westminister Christian Worship Center in Atlantic City and is with the International Ministerial Fellowship of Jameson Evangelistic Association and a member of the Fellowship of Churches of Atlantic City and Vicinity. She is retired from the City of Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Police Department after 35 years of service.

Outstanding Clergy Award: Rev. Stacey Hamilton, assistant pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Pleasantville

Law Enforcement Award: Attorney Alexa D’Amato, Egg Harbor Township

Education Award: Dianne Stallings, an administrator at Stockton University and Brigette White

Business Entrepreneur Award: Curtis Lackland

Olivia Caldwell is the longtime president of the Mainland-Pleasantville NAACP.
