Camden County Mayors Assoc. Names Jamila Odom 2nd VP

BERLIN – Chesilhurst Mayor Jamila Odom was chosen second vice president of the Camden County Mayors Association at the organization’s event held at Lucien’s Manor on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Elected by the 30-member-plus-member body, Odom becomes the highest-ranked woman and Black in the association, made up of mayors throughout Camden County.
“It is a true honor to be part of such an exceptional organization,” said Odom on Facebook, who is in her second term as mayor of Chesilhurst. “I am committed to serving to the best of my ability. A heartfelt thank you to the nominating committee for placing their trust in me.
“I also want to express my gratitude to my mom and the members of my church family who joined me today to show their support. If my dad were here, I know he would say, ‘Go get ’em, kiddo!’ Thank you, Lord.”
David Mayer, mayor of Gloucester Township was chosen as president of the organization and Bellmawr Mayor Chuck Sauter III will serve was first vice president. Other officers include Rob Jakubowski, mayor of Audubon, as recording secretary; Joseph Chukwweke, mayor of Woodlynne, as corresponding secretary; and Phyllis Magazzu, mayor of Berlin Township, as treasurer. Lindsey Shellenberger is the executive director.
