Op-Ed: Want a Real Movement? It Takes Work, Not Sensationalism
Op-Ed
BY JT BURKS | Positive Vibes
Man I’m tired of our struggle being pimped and marginalized.
Fake boycotts are not movements, fake boycotts of certain holidays are not movements, celebrities complaining on podcast are not movements, people making controversial post are not movements etc.
Today everyone gets popular off of using sensationalism without putting in the work. It be people worth millions and billions trying to tell common folk what to do with their limitations. When they themselves don’t risk their lives, put up their money or put up their energy etc.
Just say everything and anything to play on peoples emotions to run up their views, likes and lace their pockets.
It’s easy to play on people today just use race, kids and women. Again that’s why we will be saying the same thing for another 50 years! Roll up your sleeves and do the work!
People really kill me with that, they think putting up videos of what happened 150 years ago talk over, yell and cuss is a movement/activism but don’t have no plan on how to fix right now! To truly start movements it takes people being of one mind, one heart with unity and solidarity.
Preachers and drug dealers have to get on the same page, police and gangsters have to get on the same page. People have to value the preservation of their people over money and fame. We have work to do.
It’s not normal to have to tell people to be about peace let alone among with their own kind, in all reality there should be no such thing as Gun Violence Awareness Month.
