HAMMONTON — The Puerto Rican Civic Association of Hammonton announced its 63rd annual festival will take place on Aug. 28 and Sept. 2-4, rain or shine.

The celebration will kick off on Aug. 28 with a Spanish-language Mass at noon at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish/St. Mary Mt. Carmel Ministerio Hispano in Hammonton, 226 French Street. That will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. procession to Hammonton Town Hall, 100 Central Avenue.

Highlighting the great culture and leadership in South Jersey’s Hispanic community.

At 1:45 p.m., PRCA will host a Flag Raising ceremony with speeches and receiving a proclamation from Hammonton Mayor Steve DiDonato.

The festival will take place at Puerto Rican Civic Association Clubhouse, 367 Old Forks Road with deejay Teudy Ramirez and traditional Latino cuisine.

Organizers said from 3-7 p.m., Carmen Rodriguez of Salon 649 Beauty Bar and Mike or Carlos of Fresh Cutz will be giving 50 free basic haircuts and book bags filled with school supplies. The nonprofit HELP will also provide free bomba socks.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

  • 5-10 p.m.: Celebrate Festival at Puerto Rican Civic Assoc clubhouse, 367 Old Forks Road, Hammonton, down the street from Hammonton High School. Enjoy DJ Teudy Ramirez, live music by Trio Renacer and traditional Latino cuisine. 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 and SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

  • 3-10 p.m.: Celebrate Festival at Puerto Rican Civic Assoc clubhouse, 367 Old Forks Road, featuring DJ Teudy Ramirez both days, live music SATURDAY by Javy Swing De Guille Oficial Javy Swing D Guille. On Sunday, live music will be provided by Inolvidables and traditional Latino cuisine.

Organizers said the Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. will give free COVID-19 tests and provide free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. AmeriGroup will provide free Medicare information. Community Food Bank of New Jersey will help with SNAP applications.

Others offering services include New Standard Senior Living, O.C.E.A.N. Inc. and Hearing at Home NJ, among others.

Those interested in selling vendor contact (no food or beverages) contact our Vice President, Wanda Hernandez +1 (609) 666-3889 and reserve your 10’x10′ space (you provide tent, extension cord and outdoor light) and we provide an electric socket.

“In addition, we are also asking for donations of new backpacks and new school supplies like folders, binders, spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, glue sticks, rulers, child-safe scissors, 1, 3 & 5 subject notebooks, 2 pocket folders, marker pens, erasers, #2 pencils, gel pens, pencil cases, sharpeners, highlighters, crayons, washable markers and gift cards so we can give to the children in attendance,” Santiago said.

“You can drop them off at Salon 649 Beauty Bar (see flyer) or call to meet Myrna +1 (609) 287-7419   Deadline is Wednesday, August 24th so we can distribute items on August 28th 3pm-7pm (until gone).”
