Atlantic City NAACP Hosts MLK Events, Including Movie Screening, Walk, Radiothon

ATLANTIC CITY — The Atlantic City branch of the NAACP will be involved in two events recognizing the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
On Thursday (Jan. 12), a screening and reception of the documentary, “Nobody’s Free Until Everybody’s Free,” at the Fannie Lou Hamer Room of the Stockton University Atlantic City campus, 3711 Atlantic Avenue, from 5:30-7 p.m.
The event is being sponsored by the Atlantic City NAACP, the NAACP NextGen Alumni Leadership Council, Chromatic Black, Stockton University, Beth Israel Synagogue, the City of Atlantic City and the Fellowship of Churches of Atlantic City and Vicinity.
On Monday (Jan. 16), the branch will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day event with a morning walk to the Atlantic City’s Civil Rights Garden and a membership Radiothon.
The day of events will center around this year’s theme: “Uniting Against Hate, Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.”
The MLK Walk/March will start at the Martin Luther King Jr. School Complex, 1700 Marmora Avenue, at 11 a.m. with the gathering starting at 10:45 a.m. The program and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Civil Rights Garden at 11:15 a.m.
The day will then move to St. James AME Church, 101 New York Avenue, for an interfaith program at noon featuring Rabbi Michael Feshbach and the keynote speaker.
The Atlantic City NAACP will wrap up the day with a membership Radiothon on WEHA-FM at 88.7 and 100.3 at 3 p.m. Listeners will be able to access the radiothon through all of the branch’s social media platforms as well.
