Judge Todd-Ruiz, Prosecutor Webb-McRae to Speak at Bridgeton Youth Event

BRIDGETON — History-making Municipal Court Judge Demetrica Todd-Ruiz and Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae will address girls at “It’s All About a Princess Ball” at the Young Peoples Progressive Club in Gouldtown from 3-7 p.m. on Feb. 18.
The event, sponsored by 856Love, Inc. was created to give girls positive role models to counteract negative stereotypes on social media, said organizer Mel Malik Williams.
Todd-Ruiz and Webb-McRae will be joined by 856Love organizer Audrey Williams.
“There will be no lack of positive role models,” Williams told Front Runner New Jersey. “Since We held our Boys to Men event (last year), we definitely wanted to do something for our young ladies.”
Todd-Ruiz, who grew up in Bridgeton, because the first African American woman to serve as a municipal court judge in Cumberland County when she was selected to serve in the Vineland Municipal Court.
Webb-McRae, who grew in Vineland, became the first African American woman to serve as a county prosecutor in Cumberland County. She is now serving her second term as county prosecutor.
